HIA-LI Names Dr. Elana Zolfo Chairperson of the Board

Well-respected Business and Academic Leader Appointed to Chair Long Island B2B Organization

HAUPPAUGE, NY, August 3, 2011 – HIA-LI, the recognized voice for business on Long Island, is proud to announce that Dr. Elana Zolfo has been named chairperson of the HIA-LI board. She is a long-time board member of HIA-LI and previously served as first vice chairperson. Dr. Zolfo is well-respected among the business community for her leadership in workforce development, training and continuing education. She is the Interim Provost and Vice President for Corporate Programs and Continuing Education at Dowling College. Dr. Zolfo is Interim Provost and Vice President for Corporate Programs and Continuing Education as well as the board-appointed Secretary at Dowling College, where she has served numerous roles since joining the College in 1993. Prior to that, she worked for Suffolk County Community College. With her extensive background and experience she has developed and enhance educational partnerships between Dowling College and organizations such as FedEx, Automated Data Processing (ADP), State Farm Insurance Company, Key Span, New York City Transit Authority, and Estee Lauder, to name a few. Under Dr. Zolfo’s direction, Dowling Institute provides employees of these companies the opportunity to achieve their educational goals by offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programs at their work locations.

Dr. Zolfo served for a decade as a trustee for The Long Island Works Association and serves on the scholarship committee of the Suffolk County Women’s Business Enterprise Coalition and is a member of the Women Economic Developers of Long Island. She served on the New York State Economic Development Defense Diversification Committee, and was Chairperson of Long Island Teaming for Success.

Dr. Zolfo holds an A.A.S. from Nassau Community College, a B.A. in Psychology from Hofstra University, an M.B.A. from Adelphi University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Dowling College.
